Biography

Rosalind was born and educated in Dorset. She gained a BA degree in English and Drama at Plymouth University in 1994 and was awarded an MMus degree with distinction at Southampton University in 2004.

Rosalind has proved her versatility in a wide variety of musical styles and genres, appearing in oratorio, recital and opera performances. She has sung the roles of Susanna (Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro), Miss Silverstone (Mozart’s The Impressario) and Second Woman (Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas), the latter at the Yoxford Arts Festival with Catherine Bott as Dido, directed by David Owen Norris.

She was a member of the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus following her undergraduate training and sang with the semi-professional church choir Cantores Michaelis during her postgraduate studies.

In 2005 Rosalind and Italian pianist Antonio Cascelli successfully toured their Michael Tippett centenary programme around the UK, the recitals included the song cycle ‘The heart’s assurance’. She was a soloist for the premier of David Owen Norris’ oratorio ‘Prayerbook’ in 2006. In April 2007 she founded the Aureol Sinfonia with her brother Valdon Mizen and together they performed ‘Classics in Spring’ at Sherborne Abbey.

Aside from recital work, Rosalind is regularly engaged for special functions, weddings, funerals, anniversaries. She has and continues to be involved in charitable music events both for local and global causes. Recent projects have included collaboration with contemporary music group CoMA South, Music in Homes, Southampton and Music for hospices, returning as a soloist with Weymouth Choral Society.

She currently resides in Hampshire and studies voice with Christine Page.
